chool with spirit and motivation and that is no challenge for Shamil Ravan and Megan Boone as they prepare themselves for the new school year.

A new sense of responsibility comes upon Shamil and Megan as they take on their new roles. They worry about the way teachers will discipline them and how much of an influence they will be able to circulate. But the high expectations, like maintaining good grades, do not intimidate them.

Being a head Norse does not mean having high honors, good grades, and extraordinary achievements. The only qualification is having enormous school spirit.

Megan’s goal is to embrace the qualities of a true head Norse and to attend as many school events as possible.

Shamil too, plans on getting involved by joining wrestling and keeping busy with his job outside of school.

When asked what it is like to work with each other Megan answered, “It’s fun, if he actually does anything” in a joking matter. Shamil added “We’re the perfect pair. We got this!”

The constant humor and laughter between the two head Norse shows their confidence with each other.

“Those past head Norse ain’t got nothing on us!” says Shamil as he plans to be the best head Norse this school has ever seen.

Megan’s comment on this is, “Students are blind, they don’t realize how important school spirit is.”

With this Shamil and Megan are off to a good start as they cover pretty much all of the expectations that Assistant Principal Mr. James, their guide through all of this, has for them.

Mr. James said, “It is up to each head Norse group to define their role and decide their participation level. I expect them to do a certain amount of games and to lead the crowd, etc. during important events, in addition to their daily work doing announcements and assemblies.”

Look out for Shamil and Megan, NHS’s 2010-2011 head Norse, as they lead the school with their fun, passionate and optimistic attitudes.
